Went in excited for a relaxing facial but couldn’t relax hearing her bracelets jingling in my ear and tapping my face the whole time. I know it’s a school but I’m so surprised jewelry is allowed to be worn while handling people’s faces, not super hygienic nor professional.

I have received several services here! My husband gets his hair cut and beard groomed at the barber section and I love it every time. I have had my hair done, lashes, nails and the wedding package. I have mostly been very impressed by everything I've had. They are students, I have had minimal bad experiences!

I will start with facts here:
Called in and asked to be scheduled with Phase 2 student for a haircut and highlights. (Phase 2 - More experienced students, as I was nervous about coloring)
They confirmed I was scheduled. I asked, “it’s with phase 2, right?” They said “yes”
I came in at 5:30pm. They started on my hair at 6pm.
They worked on my hair until 10:30pm. At 10:30pm I was asked to leave - my hair was completely wet (they washed it and sent me home immediately after), haircut was not done yet, I was freezing, it was really cold outside. I asked if they could dry my hair for at least a little, to which they said no. I was forced to pay for the coloring service, while shaking and freezing. Then made it to my cold car and hoped I wasnt going to get sick. I was extremely cold.
I get home, shaking, freezing, look in the mirror - you’ll see on the pictures what I saw. One huge patch of my hair in the middle, (top layer of my hair - which is the most visible) starts off as my natural color and then about 3 inches up it suddenly turns white(blond).
Then I look through my hair on the right and notice a white ring. You can see beginning of the white ring going across my hair on the photo. Across my hair… there is white where there isn’t supposed to be. So it looks like I have no hair there or something, but it’s just painted, like a white line.
So I come back the very next morning. Show my hair to the staff, I was very nice, no scene, just showed them the hair, they called the instructor, I was nothing but patient and pleasant. So one of the instructors comes out, looks at it and says that they can fix it but I have to pay. She says that students can make mistakes - I tell her - I understand, I have no issue with the student who did it, I just want it fixed because it’s for special occasion and its literally the first thing you see. She says it will take about 3 hours to fix, and she wants to charge me.
I also ask her about phase 2 (when I was home I noticed that my receipt said “phase one”, so I ask her, how come I requested and signed up for phase 2, yet, I ended up being serviced by phase 1 student? To which instructor tells me that they no longer have phase 2 students. And I told her that the person scheduling me confirmed it was phase 2. No reaction, instructor just repeats that phase 2 is no longer a thing. - this is not ok, if I knew, while scheduling, that they dont have phase 2 anymore - I would’ve never signed up with Paul Mitchell, but would’ve signed up in another salon, with more experienced professional. Because I have never had a good experience with phase 1 student, so I knew I wouldn’t want to risk it)

But yeah so instructor says they can fix it, if I pay more. Ummm what? Are you kidding me? Not only was I pushed out into the cold with completely wet hair, she says they will fix their mistakes if I pay more money…
Paul Mitchell is a complete scam. Unless you are doing something simple and easy - dont go. Definitely do not trust them with coloring. Again - I have no issue with the student who did it, she is practicing, learning, she did her best. But the instructor was overseeing her work and didn’t catch any of these obvious, horrific mistakes - literally on top of my head. And she forced me to leave with wet hair. And the other instructor the next day - had the audacity to tell me that I have to pay, in order for them to fix the mistakes they made. Absolutely nauseating experience with completely clueless & unprofessional scheduling person, and the instructors.
I used to go ONLY to Paul Mitchell, and I never had issues before, let alone so many such horrible issues.

On top of it all - which I wasn’t even complaining to them about - I asked for gradual highlights, so that when they grow out, they aren’t as noticeable (as sharp), and there is nothing gradual about the way my highlights were done, it’s just - white line, dark line, white, dark. No gradual transition whatsoever. And even the color is wrong.

These photos were taken the next day after the coloring.

Great, cost-effective service. The students are a pleasure to talk to & they are supervised and do a good job. The pricing on the website isn’t completely up to date. I anticipated $20 for a pedicure but it was actually $25. Not a big deal but confirm beforehand if that matters to you.

I came in for a money piece lightening, was convinced by the supervisor to get lightening all-around, and left with chunky inconsistent and lopsided highlights that made me wish I hadn't done anything to my hair at all. And my money piece was DARKER than the rest of my head-- the exact opposite of what I asked for and showed via photo. The entire appointment was terrible-- incredibly long and I watched in panic while two students worked on opposite sides of my head performing VERY different techniques and was told by one to "not worry" when I spoke up about my concerns regarding this. I also heard her say "oops" several times while working on my hair.

I went back in for a refinement, thought I was going to leave in a much better position, and still came home again to one large chunk of hair that is much lighter than anywhere else on my head, which I believe is due to the student NOT PARTING MY HAIR before coloring it. (See photo)

At this point, I went from anticipating paying $60 for the cut and money piece to paying over $120 for original treatment and refinement combined. I'm pretty unhappy with how my hair looks still, but at this point I do not want to have to pay a third time for unsatisfactory outcome when I have already put this much time and money into it-- I'd rather have just gone elsewhere.

I understand that the students are learning and I send no blame to anyone who worked on me. I am happy to support others learning and in theory believe there shouldn't be consequences for doing so if there is a supportive structure in place. But what was most frustrating about my experience was the lack of supervision-- it was clear during my first treatment that the students had questions but couldn't find the supervisor to ask them, and I was the one who suffered as a result. When the supervisor was present, it was brief and she left no time for the students to ask questions, or even demonstrate the technique back to her to ensure they were doing it right-- and again, this overall lack of attention to detail is clearly evidenced by the poor outcomes of my hair both times.

Overall, I think this is a fine and affordable option to go for simple haircuts, but with the current lack of oversight I won't be returning again and will now need to find someone to fix my hair because I don't feel I can trust that this will be remedied by returning for a third time. :/

I went for the first time today. I have thick, course and curly hair. I had a great experience! What a wonderful program with professional students and staff. Nate Ayers (#133) styled my hair today; he was super communicative and did a wonderful job.
I will definitely return for more care from Nate and the PM Team.

I’ve been a student for just over a year and I’ve had nothing but a wonderful experience! The staff and learning leaders genuinely care about teaching the students and seeing them succeed. There is soo much more opportunity to grow and excel in the beauty service industry from the experiences offered at Paul Mitchell. There are few schools that offer what I found here.

I came in today and had the best experience with Trinity #141, she did a 3 dimensional color and it turned out absolutely perfect!
